Contents
Vit A 3,400 IU, vit E 1 IU, vit B1 5 mg, vit B2 2.1 mg, vit B6 1 mg, vit B12 2.5 mcg, niacinamide 20 mg, Ca pantothenate 10 mg, dibasic Ca phosphate 80 mg, elemental Fe (dried Fe sulfate 30 mg) 10 mg, Mg sulfate 2.5 mg, K sulfate 650 mcg, methionine (as racemethionine) 2 mg, lysine HCl 0.5 mg, inositol 5 mg, debittered Brewer's yeast 25 mg
Indications/Uses
Nutritional supplement that provides essential vit, minerals & amino acids for general good health, promote physical rigor & help improve stamina during physical activity in adult ≥19 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals for better absorption or if GI discomfort occurs.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Vit A: Patients w/ hypervitaminosis A. Pregnancy w/ doses >2,500 IU & lactation (doses >5,000 IU). Fe: Avoid in condition associated w/ Fe overload (eg, hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis, thalassemia). Brewer's yeast: Concomitant use w/ MAOIs.
Special Precautions
Fe: Chronic liver failure, alcoholic cirrhosis, chronic alcoholism, pancreatic insufficiency; history of gastritis, peptic ulcer, GI bleeding.
Adverse Reactions
Vit A: Dermatitis, photosensitivity reactions. Vit B2: Yellow-orange urine discoloration. Fe (>60 mg): Epigastric pain/discomfort, nausea, diarrhea or constipation; fecal impaction (in elderly); anorexia, black/dark stools, bloating, GI irritation, heartburn, metallic taste vomiting; exacerbation of diarrhea in patients w/ inflammatory bowel disease; hemosiderosis (in long-term use of large amounts). Brewer's yeast: Stomach discomfort, flatulence, migraine, headaches.
Drug Interactions
Vit A: Increased risk of bleeding w/ warfarin; additive undesirable effects w/ etretinate, isotretinoin, tretinoin; increased risk of pseudomotor cerebri w/ minocycline. Niacinamide: May decrease clearance of carbamazepine. Fe: May reduce absorption of cefdinir, bisphosphonates, carbidopa/levodopa, entacapone, fluoroquinolones, levothyroxine, methyldopa, mycophenolate mofetil, penicillamine, tetracyclines. Brewer's yeast: May cause HTN w/ MAOIs.
